Just one week after photos were taken showing 62 captive victims, terrorists who attacked the Abuja-Kaduna train released one of Sadik, the son of the convener of the Northern Elders Forum (NEF), Professor Ango Abdullahi.

A family member of the abducted train passengers confirmed that Sadik Ango Abdullahi was released on Friday after spending 31 days in captivity.

The nation also claimed that the amount was paid before its release, although the actual amount could not be determined at the time of submission of this report.

According to him, Sadik was identified by friends and relatives when the terrorists released images of the 62 abducted passengers on the train.

It is learned that the terrorists never knew that they were keeping the son of the highly respected old man in the north before then.

“You see, that’s why we’re very careful now. Negotiations between the government and terrorists for the release of their loved ones have reached an advanced stage.

“We do not want to jeopardize the process now. We are sure that the terrorists found out who Sadik is and later decided to negotiate for his release, “said a family member.

The findings show that Sadik was released after extensive negotiations, which led to the payment of the ransom last Friday.

He was said to have reunited with his family.

Sadik is the only son between Professor Ango Abdullahi and his mother, the late Hajiya Jummai Alhassan, a former minister, popularly known as Mother Taraba.

He was found to be undergoing psychological rehabilitation at a private hospital.

At the time of the report, there was no formal reaction from the family or security agencies.
