Russia’s banking executive has flaws in Ukraine, Putin says he must escape

Istanbul: Just hours after the start of the war, business director Igor Volobuyev began receiving videos of his childhood friends showing shells falling in his hometown of Okhtyrka, Ukraine, near the Russian border.

Volobuyev spent more than two decades at Gazprom, the Russian state gas giant, becoming the vice president of Gazprombank, which is owned by the conglomerate and is the third largest bank in the country.

“I was glued to my phone. I felt like I was sitting in a comfortable cinema and watching a horror movie, “Volobuyev said.

“It’s such a miserable feeling when people call you and say, the Russians are killing us. You work at Gazprombank. You’re an important guy. Is there anything you can do to stop this? ”
